To factor an expression, you have to start by factoring out the GCF, or Greatest Common Factor. List the factors of each component of the expression. Here we are interested in finding the natural number factors. The expression x ^2 + 6x + 8 would have factors that look like this: x^ 2: 1 6x: 1, 2, 3, 6 8: 1, 2, 4, 8
