23 mar 2015 · I've never understood the desire to build hay wagons out of wood when better materials exist. A 4"x10" I-Beam for main stringers crossed with 3x1/4" channel will be more effective at half the weight. Then deck it with deck plate, expanded mesh or boards if you wish.

15 sie 2015 · Gypsy wagons can be grouped into different styles including the Brush wagon, Reading, Ledge, Bow Top, Open lot and Burton wagon. I think I like the Reading and Ledge style the best. Perhaps I could combine the two styles and use a recycled two wheeled utility trailer as the vardo base frame.
Begin with the wagon box. The box of a Conestoga wagon is also called a Yankee bed. The Yankee bed consists of an open-topped arrangement of wooden planks or boards. Set up a large board for the bottom, about 10 to 12 feet in length and around 4 feet wide. A true Conestoga would be about twice this size.

The bed is about four feet off the floor, with a storage space underneath divided into an open and closed space. The open space is on top directly under the bed. A trap door in the floor of this open space, which is about a foot off the floor proper, opens into an enclosed space underneath.
26 wrz 2017 · As much as they simplify the process of transporting hay, they may not fit into your budget. Instead, build your own four-wheeled hay wagon from a junkyard car chassis and a few other parts for much less. Farmers have a lot of hay to haul. Construct the wagon tongue.
