The Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2009 is a bill introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives of the 111th United States Congress by Congressman Jim McDermott that would give an extra 13 weeks of unemployment benefits to jobless workers in states with unemployment rates of 8.5 percent or more.

5 lis 2009 · The House of Representatives approved a bill that includes a provision that will extend unemployment benefits for up to 20 weeks in states with high unemployment rates. The vote was 403-to-12. Twelve republicans voted against the bill. The Senate passed the measure 98-0 late yesterday.

The legislation would extend unemployment benefits by up to 13 weeks in States where the unemployment rate is 8.5 percent or higher on a three month rolling average.
