I have maples and oaks and had gutter guards on the whole house. Couple years ago, I was having water issues and the gutter guards were suspected to be the problem (ultimately, they weren't), so I took them off two sides of my rectangular house. They're just the metal plates with holes.

16 lut 2008 · Biggest complaint I hear about the helmet type guards which rely on the capillary action of the water to flow over the edge and into the gutter, is you still have to clean them. Small debris, pollen, and dirt will adhere to the curved edge and disturb the flow, allowing the water to flow past and down the front of the gutter.
