The Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of North Carolina is the oldest and largest fraternal organization in North Carolina. The Grand Lodge has been in continuous operation since it was established by a convention of Masonic lodges in Tarboro, N.C., December 1787.
The Grand Lodge of North Carolina was established on December 12, 1787, in the town of Tarboro. When Tennessee was created from land previously a part of North Carolina, the two States were under one Masonic jurisdiction, known as the “Grand Lodge of North Carolina and Tennessee”.
