Full-float axles have a tell-tale “axle end” that sticks out from the wheel surface. This is because the wheel hub on a full-float 14-bolt axle will stick out beyond the wheel mounting surface anywhere from about two to four inches. The full-float axle bolts to the end of the hub.

26 lip 2013 · My 14 bolt is a newer version out of (I was told) a Suburban. I believe it's a Type 1 SRW. (Although) it measures 66.5 WMS. It has the SRW hubs. I'm trying to make it match a 1978 Ford Dana 60 front end at 69.25 inches. The question is, can I use a different hub and get it that width or wider, or do I need to get a van (type 3) housing?
