Our Story. Founded in 1987, ten students and graduates of The Ohio State University Glass Program came together under the name Glass Axis. The group built a portable glass blowing studio and traveled all over Central Ohio teaching glass art, with a focus on the Greater Columbus Arts Council’s Artists-in-Schools Program.
What began as a traveling hot shop over 25 years ago has become a 12,700 square feet non-profit glass art studio, with over 100 members, a gallery, and a mission dedicated to teaching and education. First experience classes give anyone an opportunity to play with fire and have a hands-on hot, warm, or cold glass art experience.
