4 sie 2007 · The 496 is a good size for the cockpit, the iPad is too bulky. The 496 won't have a heat stroke in a warm cockpit. The 496 display is readable in the sun. The 496 mounts nicely in the panel or on the yoke. The software stability of the 496 is lightyears better than iOS/ForeFlight.

5 maj 2008 · We've had a 396 and now have the 496. Most of the differences have been discussed, except the AOPA directory is also on the 496. I'd suggest each is much better than flying without one. In general, I don't think the 496 upgrade is really worth it unless you do quite a bit of flying. But it depends on what you use it for.
