Frances Ha is one of my favorite movies to come out so far this year, and I thought that the structure of the film was crucial to us understanding the character and what Baumbach is trying to say. Every scene adds to the plot and to Frances's development, and the "aimlessness" you're describing makes perfect sense in that regard.
