France. Overview of the education system (EAG 2024) In France, the share of 25-34 year-olds without upper secondary educational attainment decreased from 13 % in 2016 to 11 % in 2023. The OECD average fell from 17 % to 14 % over the same period.

This proportion was slightly higher than the OECD average in 2017. Average spending per student has increased significantly since 1980, rising to €8,920 in 2019 figure 1.
