Also, it’s a set of guidelines designed to keep food safe from contamination and spoilage.
This document provides a code of practice for food hygiene based on the Codex Alimentarius Commission. It defines food hygiene as the conditions and practices that keep food safe and suitable for consumption.

Food safety (or food hygiene) is used as a scientific method/discipline describing handling, preparation, and storage of food in ways that prevent foodborne illness. The occurrence of two or more cases of a similar illness resulting from the ingestion of a common food is known as a food-borne disease outbreak. [1] .
1 sty 2016 · The Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), the international body which sets standards for foods, defines food hygiene as “all conditions and measures necessary to ensure the safety and suitability of food at all stages of the food chain.”
Consumers should have enough knowledge of food hygiene to enable them to: - understand the importance of product information; - make informed choices appropriate to the individual; and - prevent contamination and growth or survival of foodborne pathogens by storing, preparing and using it correctly.
