This extension allows to include the favicon in a JSON backup, so you can consider to move (replace) the bookmarks by restoring a JSON backup.

Done! slight update for completeness: Where I could not find any favicon, using pagesource, this online generator of favicons (upload an image and outputs a favicon), was very helpful.
6 mar 2013 · After updating my Firefox from version 12 to version 13, my bookmarks favicons have gone. I wonder whether it's possible to force the browser to only download/refresh the favicons for all my bookmarks without visiting the websites themselves.
The easiest way is to hijack a bookmark. Just bookmark a page that has a favicon that you want to use. You may need to click on the bookmark to have it load the favicon from the site that it links to. Once you have the favicon, then, go to the bookmark, right click, and choose properties.
