Field Day is always the fourth full weekend of June, beginning at 1800 UTC Saturday and running through 2059 UTC Sunday. Any mode supporting the Field Day exchange is allowed.
Learn how to operate on Field Day, the annual emergency communication exercise for amateur radio enthusiasts. This web page explains the basics of Field Day exchange, how to separate signals from noise, and how to improve your CW and SSB skills.
Stations in ARRL / RAC sections will exchange their Field Day operating Class and ARRL / RAC section. Example: a three transmitter Class A station in Connecticut which also has a GOTA station and the extra VHF station would send "3A CT" on CW or Digital, or "3 Alpha Connecticut" on Phone.
The FD exchange has two parts, first is your station class, second is your ARRL/RAC section. Your station class is based on the quantity of simultaneous transmitters used and your power source.
The Field Day Primer was first published in 1994 with two objectives in mind: To provide an introduction to Field Day for those who have not been involved in past Field Days, and; To serve as a guide to Field Day participants (in the hope that we could move up in the overall standings).
