10 wrz 2023 · Femoral hernias typically have a characteristic funnel-shaped neck. On axial CT images, the neck of the femoral hernia sac may be seen as a narrow protrusion through the femoral ring just medial to the common femoral vein. This can often look indented and compressed by the hernia sac.
The femoral canal is bordered by the inguinal ligament antero-superiorly, posteriorly by the pectineal ligament, laterally by the femoral vein and medially by the lacunar ligament. The bowel can herniate at the femoral ring thus called a femoral hernia.

We show sonographic techniques for evaluating inguinal, femoral, and spigelian hernias and include surgically proven examples. CONCLUSION. Understanding healthy inguinal anatomy is essential for diagnosing inguinal region hernias. Sonography can diagnose and differentiate between various inguinal region hernias.
