2 mar 2024 · Install and upgrade. I have a desktop pc that I want to revert back to Windows XP on. It is an older pc that I installed Windows 10 on but things dont work to well as I think the hardware is to old for it. I want get rid.
2 lip 2016 · Windows 10 does not support in place upgrades from Windows XP. You cannot rollback. Migration: Windows XP and Vista. First of all, Windows XP and Windows Vista are not qualifying versions for the free upgrade, so you would have to purchase a full version license. Buy Windows 10 Home/Pro.
You need to download an XP iso with volume license and reinstall over the old OS. Besides this, you probably need to enable compatibility or legacy boot in the BIOS, and reformat the hard drive to a Master Boot Record partition table (backup valuable data).
8 kwi 2022 · Change the storage controller setting in the BIOS from AHCI to IDE, install Windows XP and then change the storage controller setting back to AHCI after you manually change the storage controller driver in the device manager.
However you can use "Windows.old" folder to restore your some of the data & settings. If you really want to go back to Windows XP I will recommend you to perform a clean installation that will lead you to your system stability and help you get most of your OS features.

If you’re just looking to get XP onto the machine and there’s no data to be preserved, then the best solution is to get the original Windows XP installation CD that hopefully came with the machine and simply reinstall Windows XP from scratch.
