Here are two methods of erasing your Mac: 1: Go to System Settings > General > Transfer or Reset > Click “Erase all content and settings”. Wait 5 - 25 min. (Ventura or newer) 2: Erase your Mac in recovery mode.
23 kwi 2022 · So I assumed my disk was formatted somehow differently. Then did a backup and erased and re-formatted my disk as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". Re-installed Big Sur and loaded my backup. After that, went back to Disk Utility only to see that disk was still "Journaled: No" and the "File - Enable Journaling" option was still greyed out.
25 gru 2023 · Here's how to fix it: Open Disk Utility and head over to the "View" menu in the top left corner. Instead of "Show Only Volumes," choose "Show All Devices." This will display all physical disks in the sidebar. Select the specific disk you want to format with APFS from the sidebar list.
23 lut 2024 · The Disk Utility is unresponsive (everything grayed out, nothing even trying to load) when MacBook Pro is started with the external drive connected. The external drive shows up in Finder. When starting my MacBook without the external drive connected, my internal hard drive does show up in Disk Utility.

I am also not able to use reinstall OS option as the disk is not mounting. Is there any way I can reinstallOS without having to format the disk?
