5 maj 2022 · Yes, technically the secret behind the door is Denji's patricide, but it's not only that. The doors in Chainsaw Man seem to represent willingful ignorance, which basically is when Denji chooses to ignore what's around him in order to avoid suffering by thinking too much, like when he made himself forget about killing his father to avoid guilt.
I think Fujimoto is well aware of this and uses it to allow Denji to subvert typical expectations of shonen manga protagonists, part of what makes CSM so awesome. agreed 100%. Chainsaw man is great because you can just read it and enjoy it. But it also rewards people who really think deeply about it and the implications and "why" behind things.
Overall, I think that the pieces are there for Denji to willingly detach himself from being Chainsaw man, that he totally could be content being normal, not being chainsaw man, if he had some other means of forming meaningful connections in place, because aside from the physical thrill of being chainsaw man, it’s clear that the main reason he continues to be chainsaw man and fight devils is ...
Reze was Fujimoto's favourite at one point but after the second official Chainsaw Man character popularity poll, Fujimoto said, that Denji is now his favourite. Official source: The interview and comment you're referring to is from 2020, whereas the second popularity poll is from 2021 - so Fujimoto's favourite changed to Denji.
But, seriously, I'm getting dismayed that more people aren't directly calling out the ways that Denji is being manipulated and abused vs. the number of throw away comments that Denji be simping. The closest person to Denji I've met in RL was a woman who had come from a poverty and violence ridden area of SE Asia who had married a wealthy British investment bank.
21 maj 2021 · Really good analysis, thank you. The only problem I have is that you seem to be underestimating the Chainsaw Devil a bit, he should be way faster than Wolverine and was strong enough to cut apart buildings and throw his Pochita heart back to earth from orbit, I think Denji is gonna be throwing Logan through buildings with each swing so he's more likely to end up buried in debris or deep into ...
19 paź 2022 · My genuine question about this is if it hurts Denji to transform, or do his arms magically split open for the chainsaws to come out? Because he said something like that he continuously loses blood while he's chainsaw man.
24 sie 2022 · denji and chainsaw man denji sees himself worthy only because of chainsaw man (people praising him, makima only being interested in chainsaw) aka only when he has something to offer. denji has been used for his whole life and is perfectly fine with it, "as long as they see me as something."
29 lis 2022 · Addendum: Chainsaw Man is very keen on blurring the lines between ways of love, and dealing with all sorts of different forms of affection. I haven't seen any manga that touches on it so intricately. Denji's obsession with Makima begins with seeing her as a chance to score with a girl who actually likes him.
When Denji is Chainsaw Man, he is extremely open about his inner, primal desires for things like violence and sex and uses that as a way to shield himself from processing his emotions. He is able to just mindlessly fight and act like a beast so that he doesn’t have to ever think about all his pain.
