It operates over 900 oil wells, runs a refinery in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, and owns 238 miles of pipeline. The co-op operates solely in the oil business but maintains its origins as a farmer-owned cooperative and is one of the largest agricultural cooperatives in the United States.

Some thought the farm co-operative model was no longer viable several decades ago when Indiana Farm Bureau Co-op fell on lean times. It eventually merged with CountryMark, known today for its dynamic fuel business.
