Coppélia (sometimes subtitled: La Fille aux Yeux d'Émail (The Girl with the Enamel Eyes) [1]) is a comic ballet from 1870 originally choreographed by Arthur Saint-Léon to the music of Léo Delibes, with libretto by Charles-Louis-Étienne Nuitter.

21 maj 2019 · The original choreography for the ballet Coppélia was created by Arthur Saint-Léon based and in its premiere in 1870, the role of Franz in Coppélia was originally performed en travesti by Eugénie Fiocre, a principal dancer with the Paris Opera.
11 lut 2022 · The ballet premiered on May 25th, 1870 at Paris’ Théâtre Impérial l’Opéra and featured 16-year-old Italian ballerina Giuseppina Bozzacchi in the principal role of Swanhilda, and Eugénie Fiocre playing the part of Franz. Bozzacchi’s performance as Swanhilda was outstanding.
The celebration is momentarily interrupted by Dr Coppelius, whose mysterious "daughter" causes a quarrel between Swanilda and her fiancé Franz. The villagers, after continuing the celebrations with a czardas, disperse to await the Harvest Festival the following morning.
