16 sty 2020 · For the purposes of registration, a clinical trial is any research study that prospectively assigns human participants or groups of humans to one or more health-related interventions to evaluate the effects on health outcomes. Clinical trials may also be referred to as interventional trials.
Clinical trials are research studies that test new ways to prevent, detect, or treat disease. They are conducted in phases, from testing safety and effectiveness in small groups to tracking safety and optimal use in large groups.
The Clinical Trials Regulation harmonises the processes for assessment and supervision of clinical trials throughout the EU. The evaluation, authorisation and supervision of clinical trials are the responsibilities of EU Member States and European Economic Area (EEA) countries.
