The Charlestown Bridge, [a] officially named the William Felton "Bill" Russell Bridge, [b] is located in Boston and spans the Charles River. As the river's easternmost crossing, the bridge connects the neighborhoods of Charlestown and the North End. The bridge carries a portion of the Freedom Trail linking to the USS Constitution and Bunker Hill.

When fully completed it will extend a distance of 47 miles (76 km) from East Boston to the Neponset River. [1]
It is also the terminus of the Charlestown Bridge and the former Warren Bridge, and was formerly a stop on the Charlestown Elevated. The Central Artery was built between 1951 and 1954, routing elevated ramps through City Square.

19 paź 2022 · Repair work on the North Washington Street Bridge connecting to Charlestown has been on pause since last fall, and there's no word on when it will resume. The new $177 million bridge, with dedicated bike lanes, was set to open in the Spring of 2023.
25 paź 2024 · Bridge construction, led by MassDOT in partnership with the City’s Streets Cabinet, is expected to be completed in early 2025. The bridge is partially open to drivers and pedestrians as the construction finishes. A plaque with Bill Russell’s name will be installed in summer of 2025.
If you are walking The Freedom Trail, you will go directly over The Charlestown Bridge. While this bridge is nice, you will also get a terrific view of The Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge at the same time.
