The department is a full service career fire department providing fire suppression, emergency medical services (EMS), rescue, fire prevention, public education, code enforcement, fire investigation, hazardous materials response, and technical rescue.

The Canton Fire Department has been busy with plans for Fire Station No. 4. The new station will be on the southwest corner of Michigan Ave and Lilley Rd. This location is expected to greatly reduce fire department response times to the southeast corner of the community.
