Camp Mabry (ICAO: KATT) is a military installation in Austin, Texas, housing the headquarters of the Texas Military Department, Texas Military Forces, and Texas Military Forces Museum. Established in 1892, Camp Mabry is the third-oldest active military installation in Texas, behind Fort Sam Houston and Fort Bliss.
Drive west 6/10ths of a mile past the old main gate, which is now barricaded, and go through the light at Exposition, and down a steep hill. At the bottom of the hill, just before a flashing traffic signal, you will see the gated entrance of Camp Mabry to your right (i.e., Maintenance Drive).
Take Highway 71 West to Highway 360 North to Loop 1 North. Travel five (5) miles on Loop 1 to 35th Street. Follow the instructions above from that point. Entering Camp Mabry. At the current time, the post is open to the public during daylight hours without prior arrangements.
Camp Mabry is located in Austin, Texas and houses the headquarters of Texas Military Forces, which comprises all three components. Originally, the site comprised 90 acres just three miles north of downtown when it was first given from the city to Texas in 1892.
