It originates from the spinal column from above the cervical vertebra 5 (C5). It contributes to the phrenic nerve, long thoracic nerve, and dorsal scapular nerve before joining cervical spinal nerve 6 to form the upper trunk, a trunk of the brachial plexus, which then forms the lateral cord, and finally the musculocutaneous nerve.
24 lip 2023 · From the lateral cord, C5, C6, and C7 supply the pectoralis major and minor muscles, via the lateral and medial pectoral nerves, as well as the coracobrachialis, brachialis and biceps brachii, via the musculocutaneous nerve.
Muscle innervation Reference Tables.
12 paź 2023 · The cervical plexus is a network of nerve fibres that supplies innervation to some of the structures in the neck and trunk. It is located in the posterior triangle of the neck, halfway up the sternocleidomastoid muscle, and within the prevertebral layer of cervical fascia.
15 cze 2023 · On the other hand, the motor branches of the cervical plexus form the ansa cervicalis (C1-C3), which is a nerve loop innervating the infrahyoid muscles in the anterior cervical triangle. They also form the phrenic nerve (C3-C5) which supplies the diaphragm and the pericardium of the heart.
Cervical spinal nerves, also called cervical nerves, provide functional control and sensation to different parts of the body based on the spinal level where they branch out from the spinal cord. While innervation can vary from person to person, some common patterns include:
Each spinal nerve receives a branch (gray ramus communicans) from the adjacent ganglion of the sympathetic trunk, while the thoracic, and the first and second lumbar nerves each contribute a branch (white ramus communicans) to the adjoining sympathetic ganglion.
