10 wrz 2015 · The Windows Installer Cache, located in c:\windows\installer folder, is used to store important files for applications installed using the Windows Installer technology and should not be deleted. The installer cache is used to maintain (remove / update) the applications and patches installed on the machine.
Download, install and run PatchCleaner to delete orphaned files. Run Disk Cleanup (e.g. by typing "clean" in the Windows start screen and selecting "Free up disk space by deleting unnecessary files"). Select the drive to be cleaned. Click on "Clean up system files" (and enter credentials if required).

10 maj 2017 · dir C:\WINDOWS\Installer\$PatchCache$ … to see if the folder is still there. You can also use . del /q /s %tmp% which deletes all files in the temporary folder, which are created by installing software.
Clean up the C:\Windows\Installer folder using this tool. The built-in Disk Cleanup I mentioned should reduce the size of the installer folder. If it does not, try out the tool above.
