Almost everything else is also exactly the same, from the alloy buttplate to the heavy 24-inch barrel with a 1:12-inch right-hand twist.

Unlike earlier attempts, these rifles included an optic that was green anodized like the originals.
13 wrz 2015 · Remington Model 700/M40 Marine Corps sniper rifle in the Vietnam issue configuration. The rifle has a tapered, medium-heavy barrel, clip-slotted receiver and oil finished walnut stock. The stock has an integral cheekpiece and aluminum checkered buttplate embossed with the Remington logo.
Each M40 is built from a Remington Model 700 bolt-action rifle, and is modified by USMC armorers at Marine Corps Base Quantico, using components from a number of suppliers. [1] New M40A5s are being built, and A1s are upgraded to A3s and A5s as they rotate into the armory for service and repair.
