Bows are weapons used in ranged combat that require a certain Ranged level to wield. They require ammunition in the form of arrows. Bows can be created through the Fletching skill and come in two varieties: shieldbows and shortbows.
The following two tables provide a comparison of two-handed and dual-wielded ranged weapons requiring a Ranged level of 75 or above. Note that augmented degradable items no longer use the equipment degradation system, but instead drain charge from the charge pack.
Currently the most powerful ranged weapons in terms of damage and accuracy are the Bow of the Last Guardian, the Eldritch crossbow, and the Blightbound crossbow and Off-hand Blightbound crossbow, excluding weapons found in Daemonheim and the Hellfire bow, which is exclusive to the Wilderness.
Bowfa + crystal armour for bossing, Toxic blowpipe for low def monsters, Venator bow to afk some slayer tasks in the catacombs and training in NMZ, Dragon hunter crossbow for vorkath and most dragons.
Bows are the current recommended weapons of choice due to having access to arrows that provide better effects than crossbow bolts and most best-in-slot ranged gear having effects designed for bows. Certain types of arrows like Wen , Ful , and Deathspores provide better damage and utility than what bolts such as Ruby Bakriminels have to offer.
Bows: Pros: Can use the new arrows, have access to salt the wound etc more easily. Can maintain stacks easier for salt the wound/NEw arrows. Longer range. HArder hitting auto attack weaving. Cons: Lack of bakriminel bolts usually means bows have less adrenaline to work with.
Crossbows are the best for pvm due to bakriminel bolts (e). As for wether dual or 2h it depends on the ones you can afford. I personally use dual ascension crossbows since they’re tier 90.
