The City Council consists of five members who are elected by district for a four-year term by the registered voters of Belmont. Elections are held in November of even-numbered years. The Mayor is elected at large, and Vice Mayor is appointed by the City Council in December of every year.
Cathy Jordan has lived in Belmont for over 25 years, raising her two daughters here. During that time, she has represented her community on the Belmont Redwood Shores Elementary School District Board of Trustees and the Belmont City Council. She currently serves as Vice-President on the Mid-Peninsula Water District Board of Directors.

The Belmont City Council met in regular session on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 6:00 PM at CityWorks Center. At the beginning of the City Council regular session, the City Manager gave a comprehensive overview of all of the items listed on the consent agenda and answered any questions from City Council members about these items.
