This is because it's illegal for base32 input to be a fractional number of bytes, so we must ignore any bits left over at the end of the decoded string.
16 gru 2009 · In direct answer to the original (and now old) question, I don't know of any common library for encoding byte arrays in base32, or for decoding them again afterward. However, I was presented last week with a need to decode SHA1 hash values represented in base32 into their original byte arrays.
4 lip 2021 · Note that putting 12345 into a base32 algorithm will mean the string 12345 which could be viewed as the number 211295614005 (or 0x3132333435) in my explanation above. Looking at it this way, 64t36d1n (what you got from base32) is definitely shorter than 211295614005 in base 10, so it all makes sense again.
