Ballybunion Golf Club is situated in Ballybunion, County Kerry, Ireland. It sits on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way and is within reach of other excellent Irish golf courses such as Lahinch, Waterville, Tralee and Killarney.
The Old Course at Ballybunion is a true seaside links, virtually treeless with a distinct lack of man made influences. There is certainly a wild look to the course, making it appear intimidating, yet the truth is that the course is eminently fair.
Ballybunion Golf Club struggled financially at this time and then folded in 1898. The course was re-established in 1906 as a 9-holer, designed by the prominent Irish golf journalist Lionel Hewson; the Old course was extended to 18-holes in 1926.
