Le Meurice (French pronunciation: [otɛl møʁis]) is a Brunei-owned five-star luxury hotel in the 1st arrondissement of Paris opposite the Tuileries Garden, between Place de la Concorde and the Musée du Louvre on the Rue de Rivoli. [1]
There is a lot of speculation about the 1940s Anne-Marie handbag boutique at the Hotel Meurice in Paris. Some say her (if, in fact, Anne-Marie was a real person) surreal designs were influenced by Salvador Dali, a frequent guest of the hotel.
Located on the ground floor of the grand Hôtel Meurice, Anne-Marie created fantastic surrealist novelty purses for Paris' elite. A version of this purse belongs in The New York Metropolitan Museum collection (accession no. 2010.251a–c).
