The Ventilation Rate Procedure in Standard 62-2001 is essentially identical to the version in the 1989 standard and contains a number of requirements that run counter to the cur-rent objectives of minimum requirements and mandatory, enforceable language.

At the moment that we must choose a fan for the air renovation of a room, several factors should be taken into account: 1. The air-flow or air volume needed to ventilate the premise, measured in m3/h. 2. The necessary pressure to overcome the resistance offered by the installation, measured in mmca.
Air changes per hour, abbreviated ACPH or ACH, or air change rate is the number of times that the total air volume in a room or space is completely removed and replaced in an hour. If the air in the space is either uniform or perfectly mixed, air changes per hour is a measure of how many times the air within a defined space is replaced each hour.
ACH or Air Changes Per Hour is a metric that tells us how many times an HVAC device can fill up the full volume of a room with air. This is especially useful when comparing different air purifiers or air conditioners. Example: Let’s take an air purifier with 250 CFM airflow. We put it in a 200 sq ft room with a standard-height ceiling (8 ft).
Air change rates resulting from ventilation can be quantified by measuring the air velocity at selected positions within supply ducts. The velocities are normally measured using a pitot tube connected to a pressure gauge or manometer, or using a hot wire probe and meter.
