ACSM and CDC recommendations state that: All healthy adults aged 18–65 years should participate in moderate intensity aerobic physical activity for a minimum of 30 minutes on five days per week, or vigorous intensity aerobic activity for a minimum of 20 minutes on three days per week.
The ACSM-AHA Primary Physical Activity (PA) Recommendations ( 33) All healthy adults aged 18–65 yr should participate in moderate intensity aer-obic PA for a minimum of 30 min on 5 d wk 1 or vigorous intensity aerobic activity for a minimum of 20 min on 3 d wk 1.
28 cze 2010 · Maximal V̇ o 2 (V̇ o 2 max) is an important measurement because it is considered to be the metric that defines the limits of the cardiopulmonary system. It is defined by the Fick equation as the product of cardiac output and arteriovenous oxygen difference [C(a−v)O 2 ] at peak exercise:
Aim: The purpose of this study was to assess the indirect calculation of VO 2 max using ACSM’s equation for Bruce protocol in athletes of different sports and to compare with the directly measured; secondly to develop regression models predicting VO 2 max in athletes.
Absolute- Liters per minute (L•min-1) Used to convert consumption to a rate of energy expenditure. Relative- ml per kg body weight per min (ml•kg-1•min-1) Used to compare VO. 2 among varying body sizes. Gross- Total consumption rate under any circumstances, either in absolute or relative.
The maximal exercise tests (ACSM max) exhibited the highest overestimation, with an average of 9.8 mL O 2 /kg∙min −1. Furthermore, the submaximal methods also significantly overestimated VO 2 max, with 6.4 (ACSM submax,Fox ) and 6.0 mL O 2 /kg∙min −1 (ACSM submax, measured ) on average.
