14 maj 2022 · There’s only two guidelines for jetting: 1) best power, 2) acceptable piston heat. If you jet for best power but use a low quality oil then you may need richer jetting to cool the piston more.
Jetting should only be relative to power and excess piston heat so the plug color only gives you a faint idea about jetting, whether it is way too lean (little to no color) or way too rich (black). Click here for my page about reading the plug.

1 kwi 2016 · You'll need some marks on your throttle to show 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 throttle openings. Guessing isn't good enough. You'll need initial jet settings that are at least close enough to let the engine run and the bike be ridden. If it's a stock engine and carb this is easy - go with the factory settings.
19 lis 2015 · The simplest way to tune your carburetor air/fuel mixture is to look at your spark plug. If the plug is black with soot, the mixture is too rich. If the plug is white (burned), the mixture is too lean. You can also determine the air/fuel ratio based on the performance of your dirt bike.
