1 paź 2020 · Third-party testing revealed that the GNX's turbo V6 actually produced more than 300 horsepower and 400 ft-lbs of torque at 3,900rpm. This allowed the GNX to outrun contemporary models from Ferrari and Porsche, and made it one of the world's fastest production cars at the time.
Buick engineers continued to improve the 3.8 liter V6 turbo engine and were able to up the horsepower to 245 versus the 235 previously. Torque also increased 25 lbs-fts to 355 lbs-ft. As one would expect, performance improved again.
The GNX was America’s fastest car for 1987 and one of the fastest in the world, competing with names such as the Ferrari F40, and making the Corvette look just bad. Twin Turbo performance house tuned Callaway Corvettes couldn’t even keep up with the phantom muscle car.
