The clothes of lower-class women, such as the thralls and landless farmers, would have been extremely simple, but little evidence for them exists in surviving sources or the archaeological record. There is a similar lack of information regarding the clothing of children during the Viking Age.

29 gru 2022 · Viking Women. Women’s clothing consisted of a shawl often worn over an ankle-length linen underdress with a slightly shorter apron dress of a heavier material worn over it. An iron or bronze “tortoise” broach on either side attached the straps to the dress.
In general, women's clothing was made from the same materials as men's clothing. Typically, a woman wore an ankle length linen under-dress or shift, with the neck closed by a brooch. Over it, she wore a shorter length woolen dress suspended by shoulder straps fastened by brooches.
Like today’s men and women, the Vikings dressed according to sex, age and economic status. The men preferred trousers and tunics, whilst the women dressed in strap dresses worn over undergarments. Ordinary Viking clothes were made of local materials, like wool and flax, woven by the women.
