Pry up from the bottom of the Zune because the headphone jack will not allow you to remove the back case in one pull. You must slide the case up and away from the rest of the Zune. The case is now separated. You can replace the case, if needed.

You might be able to find a compatible replacement from that digikey.com link, but it's likely you'll need to de-solder those pins and solder the new connector on in their place. (which might be what @Emendo12 was referring to when they were wondering about is it's possible to replace)

I have three Zunes needing repairs. One is a 30 gb which powers up fine, but when I plug it into the computer, it shows up as outdated software, and I cannot follow youtube help to update. The second one I stupidly cleared the operating system, so it also needs the software reloaded. That used to be easy until Microsoft withdrew all support.
Best place to buy a replacement battery 30gb. I’ve bought replacement batteries from eBay and have found they don’t hold a charge as long as the original battery on my 30gb.
