TLDR: if you have decent gear, dragon scimitar beats the zombie axe in potential (no def) dps. While doing nightmare zone with my brand new zombie axe, my xp rates were actually lower than with my trusty dragon scimitar. I found this rather odd and started doing some calcs.
D scimitar attacks every 2.4 seconds and zombie axe every 3.0 seconds. That's 25% slower than d scimitar. Is it 25% more damage? Probably not quite because of high defense. Zombie axe is however good at slash and crush so if you want 1 weapon for both styles then it l could be better
The main difference is the Colossal Blade was designed to be a stronger anchor while the Zombie Axe is designed as a stronger D Scim, so for a 5t to out DPS a 4t, it needs to have a lot higher stats. They still could shave off some attack though and it probably wouldn't hurt it much.

Your zombie axe might still be a good crush option for you, depending what you have even if you get a whip to replace the slash option so all is not lost on you getting it later possibly?
