The AED Plus® Administrator’s Guide is to be used by responsible medical authorities in conjunction with the ZOLL AED Plus Operator’s Guide (REF 9650-0300-01). The AED Plus is to be used by trained rescuers to provide emergency defibrillation.

Battery Replacement. For AED Plus units running software version 5.32 or higher, replace batteries every 5 years or if unit prompts. For earlier software versions, replace batteries every 3 years and place a dated AED Plus battery replacement reminder label next to the On/Off button.
Check for the green check ( ) in the status indicator window showing that the AED Plus is ready to use. Verify that electrodes pads are within their expiration date. Verify that batteries are within their expiration date. Typically 5 years from date of installation.
• Replace electrodes, if expired • After the ZOLL AED Plus is powered on and completes its self-test, the unit will issue an “Adult Pads” voice prompt or a “Pediatric Pads” voice prompt to indicate the type of electrodes connected to the unit.
Most ZOLL AED's utilize the CPR-D pads which have a green tab which shows the expiration date (as shown below). Pediatric Pads (optional) have a similar tab but is blue in color. The date has the year first, then the month and then the day.
The intended purpose of the ZOLL AED Plus is to help victims of sudden cardiac arrest. Using compatible ZOLL defibrillation electrodes which connect the patient to the ZOLL AED Plus, the AED automatically analyzes the victim’s ECG rhythm to determine whether an electrical shock should be delivered.
