The QRPGuys Multi-Tuner is a Z-match design that will match a wide range of coax fed, long wire, and balanced line antennas, like high-impedance, low-loss UHF twinlead or ladder line for 40m-10m. The Multi-Z tuner is based on a design by Charlie Lofgren, W6JJZ.
The Z-Rock Tuner kit is a Z-Match antenna tuner specifically designed by Chuck Carpenter, W5USJ, for use with his Rockmites. It comes complete with all parts, printed circuit board and enclosure. The enclosure has all holes pre-drilled, powder coated and laser/patina engraved.
2 wrz 2021 · Z-Matches are a versatile antenna tuner although I understand they can be lossy. This kit is well done but the switch wiring and panel metalwork takes some effort. When boxed up it's a compact and strong little tuner that will work well for portable QRP operation.
The Emtech ZM-2 Antenna Tuner is a nifty little portable transmatch for QRP (low power). It utilizes the well-known Z-match circuit, which is especially useful for balanced antennas (like dipoles and loops).
The single-tuned toroid in the BLT will readily tune 40, 30 and 20 meters at QRP power levels. Higher frequency range is possible if the SWR is not sever. In combination with the Rock-Mite/20 I built in a BLT-size case, the pair makes a nice operating combo.
A well-designed Z-match tuner has a high Q and is more efficient (less lossy) than other types of tuners. The fixed inductor simplifies construction (no taps or rollers needed). Using a toroid inductor and some small poly film variable capacitors, the Z-match can be built into a very compact package.
