The Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum in Ypsilanti, Michigan is an automotive museum that features cars assembled at the nearby Willow Run Plant and vehicles made by Hudson Motors.
The Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum preserves an important era in American history. The museum also hosts the National Hudson Motor Car Company Museum. A featured car in the collection is #92, a 1952 Hudson Hornet race car owned by NASCAR champion Herb Thomas. Thomas drove Hornets to his second National Championship in 1953.
The museum tells the story of local pioneering automobile companies including Tucker and Kaiser-Frazer. Hydra-matic and Chevrolet Corvair make up additional significant museum displays. Local dealerships, part suppliers, and our local Ford plant are also exhibited.
This museum doesn't look like much on the outside, but it holds a very nice collection of Hudson cars, DeSotos, Corvairs, and other "orphan" models, all very well restored. It won't take more than an hour to tour this small museum, but it's well worth the stop.
The Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum sits on the southeast corner of East Cross and North River. The land was deeded by the government to Hiram Johnson on April 22, 1824. At the crossroads in Ypsilanti’s Depot Town, the corner has a history as old as the City itself.
