History. In 1964, 100,000 French farmers agreed to merge six regional dairy cooperatives in order to more efficiently market their products at the national level. On 25 September 1965, the Yoplait brand was launched as a new national brand, as a portmanteau of the brands of two member cooperatives, Yola and Coplait. [2]
Yoplait started in France (fancy!) in 1965 with a group of six dairy co-ops. When they came together they needed a symbol to celebrate where they’ve been and that flower, representing each co-op, is that symbol.
Yoplait was born and started producing delicious yogurts full of goodness! Our little flower logo has been blooming since then, with its six petals representing the six original dairy farmer co-ops. In 1973, Yoplait began to market products in Ireland.
