The area is really safe on any game day. Outside of that, you have no business being there at night. Not because you're guaranteed to find danger, but because there is no reason to be there on non game days.
I'd say safer than in the stadium. Word on the street says there is a dumpster fire every night.
There are a ton of garages around the stadium that would be good for you, they're just expensive. The 161st street garage is the easiest way to get to and leave the stadium. It’s 40 dollars (expensive but well worth it) and it’s affiliated with the Yankees so it’s very official and nice and safe.
We are staying near the Yankee Stadium. We can use the 161/Yankee Stadium Station or the 167/Grand Concourse station. I'm just wondering how safe those areas are at night. Should we plan on being back to our hotel by dark?? Or are we okay to come back at night?? Thanks so much!!!!
