From there they went looking for a suitable lightweight frame for the bike. They decided on a Swedish Husqvarna motocross frame and modified it to fit the massive Yamaha thumper.

7 lut 2005 · The origianl HL500 prototype was a modified Husky frame in 1976 or 77. ProFab built frame kits based on the original frame. Geoff Morris Concepts in Australia builds replicas of these frames as well as swingarms and pipes.
Yamaha HL500. This is a replica of an NVT frame in bronze-welded chrome-moly tube. Headstock bearings are 47mm and 55mm OD as per original. The kit is supplied with a heat treated aluminium swing arm, complete with bushes and shims, and a 20mm spindle slot.

The rarity of original HL500s and the fact that the factory-built HL500s were actually replicas of the hand-built, low volume Hallman and Lundin prototypes has meant that there’s significant interest in building Yamaha XT500s to Hallman and Lundin specification.
