Dexed is a convincing and great sounding emulation of the Yamaha DX7. Free and sonically accurate. The fact that it can load DX7 sysex patches makes it even better.
4 mar 2019 · I've recently download Dexed, a VSTi that emulates the legendary Yamaha DX7 synth. I see that it enables you to load banks of sounds ('cartridges' containing 32 sounds at a time). I want to access the original 32 presets that the DX7 had, and was wondering which of these 'cartridges' are the original presets?

Apologies if this is known by most here as it is a pretty old plugin, but I just stumbled across "Dexed" and am completely blown away. https://www.kvraudio.com/product/dexed-by-digital-suburban. For my money this sounds better than Arturia's DX7 emulation, and it's completely free.
5 kwi 2018 · Comparing Dexed VST virtual Yamaha DX7 FM Synthersizer and the real thing. The reak DX7 had a ~14khz Sallen-Key low-pass filter to scrape off the HF DAC noise. The emulation of the Dexed mkI setting does not implement the filter where as the ‘modern’ 24bit engine does not display the signal >= 14k.
I’ve just come across a used Yamaha DX7 for sale on Facebook marketplace. I live in Hong Kong, so it’s pretty rare to see this particular synth show up for sale. Asking price is about $230 USD. Seller says it’s fully functional and comes with three cartridges for sound expansion. I’m pretty tempted to scoop this up.
