21 lip 2016 · The Yamaha U1 is the superior instrument, so it is the condition that matters. A 20 year old U1 could be ragged out (but polished to look good) or it could be excellent and performing better than a new B3 with similar longevity.

New thread based on recommendation to focus discussion on Yamaha new B3 vs used U1 Originating thread here -- I am looking for a piano and narrowed it to a Yamaha upright. Just so happens there is a used U1 in the store with a new B3.
Pros to the B3: Getting a great deal on it ($7000 total after tax and delivery) It's about the same height as the U1 and K300. The sound is really rich; it's much fuller than the B2 or K200, neither of which I loved. The store has a trade-in program for any future piano purchases (just has to be 500 dollars more expensive than my current model)
Reconditioned Yamaha U1 or New Yamaha B3? Looking to get my first acoustic piano. :) I've narrowed my choices down to a brand new Yamaha B3 for 5700 euros or a reconditioned 1980s Yamaha U1M for 5450 euros.
