27 mar 2019 · Many of you wouldn’t know about my little Yaesu vx-5r. It’s a 3 band handheld radio offered by Yaesu about 15 years ago. Like many operators at the time, I grabbed one to augment my Yaesu ft-817, Yaesu ft-897, and carry as my EDC radio.
Rating: 2002-11-29. Great audio for such a small radio. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months. I just picked up a VX-5RS (silver case) at Ham Radio Outlet in Seattle for $219 new. The feature that suprised me the most was the great sounding audio that Yaesu packed in to such a small unit.

17 gru 2015 · Yaesu VX-5R reviews. Handheld VHF/UHF Transceiver. Price History Chart. Tough, inexpensive and enough. kg5ksjAlio. New for about $265, I thought the $165 used was a good 1st radio. It is. Heard that it's tough as a tank and I immediately dropped it 5 feet onto the concrete..... hardly a scratch on the metal case and works perfectly.
12 kwi 2018 · Yaesu has a number of newer HH and I cannot comment too much on them but their memory storage is similar to the 5R. Their 1XDR and 2DR has something I really like and that is programming is via SD card so really easy to change and update frequencies.
The Yaesu VX-5R is one of the best HTs you can buy, both back then and today. There is no comparison to the baofeng/btech radios at all. The receiver on the VX-5R is impressive and sensitive, with smooth-acting AGC and pleasant audio.
