The FT-1000 is a much better radio with an excellent receiver and so much easier to navigate. It puts out the full 200 watts plus. The nice thing is that the manual is only about 85 pages and that includes the schematics.

I just recently obtained an FT-1000MP MK-V Field. It seems to be a very good radio and holds its' own against more modern rigs. My other radios in the shack are FTDX-3000D, FT-950, FT-920AF and IC-746PRO. The Field is no slouch.
