XVM NOTES: There is a nightly XVM build which can be used. It is a nightly build so be warned, it could be unstable or not work at all. Please remember that XVM changed in 8.8, XVM stat (xvm-stat.exe) is no longer required and as a result no longer requires Dokan or .Net Framework. *XVM 5.0.1-test2 is out

If you have XVM installed already it's really easy. Just download the nightly build linked above and move the res_mods folder to where your current res_mods folder is. It'll replace/merge some files.
