I have been running FFXIV on the Windows 10 Preview since build 10074, up until about two weeks ago. Most games run as well or better under Windows 10 than 7, for sure...but for me FFXIV is not one of them.
This allows you to start the FFXIV launcher via Steam without actually using the Steam dll plugin. Once again, in Steam, the top toolbar > Games > Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library.
A while ago there was a news topic in FFXIV launcher that they are currently running tests for Windows 10 and announce the results soon. I'd wait for that before upgrading.
